Hello, Monday.
Where is the summer going? Today was the first day of fall sports for our local high schools and that means a lot of things here in my household. First and foremost, it means that my husband will be crazy for another school year managing the athletic programs for two AAAA high schools. It also means that school is almost here and I have to prepare.
By preparing, I need to hit the local dollar and teacher stores for the things I need to run a successful classroom. In a few days, I will head in to school for the first time since June to break out of all of the back to school goodies...posters, name tags, bulletin boards, etc.
It's all good, but I also feel that I need to give my body a little overhaul before starting school. Lately, I have been {sort of} slacking in the health food department between trips to the ice cream parlor to backyard cookouts and picnics. It's so hard to resist all of the good food that comes with summer. So, in honor of the upcoming school year, plus my urge to get my training back on track, I am doing an easy 7-day detox that is "runner friendly."
Many people have done cleanses and detox programs before...it's nothing new. But I came across one that was done by a fellow Oiselle runner and I thought it would be interesting to try. The plan that I chose to follow comes from here. If your interest is piqued, take a look!
I will let you know how it's going throughout my seven days. As of 2:30pm in the afternoon, I feel fine. I have a slight headache, but it's nothing major.
As for running, I took off yesterday and did an easy {Garmin-less} five miles this morning before heading up to see my chiropractor.
Finally, you know it's the end of summer when you can get peaches from the farmer's produce stand with leaves still attached...
Yum! These babies are on my detox so I will be having one a day.
What do you think? Did you ever do a cleanse or detox? How did it go?
I've never done a cleanse or detox, it kind of scares me. I look forward to reading more about yours! It doesn't seem like enough calories when training, but maybe it is?
ReplyDeleteOh...I had a different sort of detox in mind.
